Elephanta is operated by Forever Lores LLC ("Forever Lores," "Elephanta," "we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect information when you use the Elephanta mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
Elephanta is a private storytelling and journaling platform designed to help people preserve memories, share experiences, and strengthen relationships through collaborative journals.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility
Elephanta is intended for users who are at least 13 years old.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an account or provided personal information, we may take steps to remove the account and associated information.

3. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect information necessary to provide the Service, including:
- Phone number
- User identifier
- Authentication information provided through Firebase Authentication
- Account creation date and account status
Profile Information
You may choose to provide:
- Display name
- Profile photo
- Relationship information used within journals
Content You Create
We collect and store content that you voluntarily create, upload, or share through the Service, including:
- Journal responses
- Stories and memories
- Messages
- Photos
- Voice recordings
- Prompt responses
- Journal participation activity
This content is stored so that journal members can access and preserve shared memories over time.
Device and Technical Information
We automatically collect certain technical information, including:
- Device type
- Operating system version
- Application version
- Crash reports
- Performance diagnostics
- Notification token information
Analytics Information
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how users interact with the Service and to improve reliability.
Analytics data may include:
- App usage information

We do not use analytics data to publicly identify individual users.
Country Detection Information
During onboarding, your IP address may be sent to ipapi.co to help determine your country for phone number formatting and country selection.
We do not collect or use precise location data.
Contact Information You Share When Inviting Others
When you invite someone to a journal, you may select them from your device's address book or enter their details manually. In either case, we collect only the name and phone number of the people you choose to invite, so they can join your journal and so we can check membership.
Your full address book is never uploaded to our servers and stays on your device. Invitation messages are sent directly from your phone, not by us.

4. How We Use Information
We use information we collect to:
- Create and manage user accounts
- Authenticate users
- Provide journal functionality
- Deliver messages and notifications
- Store and retrieve journal content
- Store photos and voice recordings
- Generate AI-assisted features
- Connect invited members to the journals they were invited to
- Improve product performance and reliability
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues

5. AI-Assisted Features
Certain Elephanta features use artificial intelligence provided by OpenAI.
Depending on the feature being used, content submitted by users may be processed to:
- Generate suggested replies
- Transcribe voice recordings
- Translate messages
- Extract storytelling context and memory information used to improve journal experiences
Content processed through AI-assisted features may be transmitted to OpenAI for processing.
Elephanta does not use OpenAI's stored-completions features to retain prompts or responses within the OpenAI platform. OpenAI may retain API request and response data for up to approximately thirty (30) days for abuse monitoring and security purposes, after which such data is deleted according to OpenAI's policies.
AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate in some circumstances. Users should exercise their own judgment when relying on AI-generated suggestions.
6. Journal Privacy
Elephanta journals are private.
Journal content is accessible only to members who have been invited to participate in that journal.
Content shared within a journal is not publicly visible and is not indexed for public search.
Because journals are collaborative experiences, content contributed by a participant becomes part of the journal's shared history.
If a participant leaves a journal or deletes their account, content previously contributed may remain visible to other journal participants.
Deleted participants may be displayed as "Former Member" within journal history.
Forever Lores employees and administrators do not routinely access private journal content. Administrative access is restricted to maintaining, securing, and supporting the Service and is governed by internal access controls.
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell user data.
We do not rent, trade, or otherwise monetize personal information by providing it to advertisers or data brokers.
We may share information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers
We work with trusted providers that help us operate the Service.
Google Firebase
Used for:
- Authentication
- Cloud Firestore
- Cloud Storage
- Push Notifications
- Analytics
- Crash Reporting
OpenAI
Used for:
- Voice transcription
- Translation
- Smart reply generation
- Story memory extraction
- Other AI-assisted functionality

Used during onboarding to determine a user's country for phone number and country-selection purposes.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information when required by law or when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with legal obligations
- Protect users
- Protect our rights or property
- Investigate fraud, abuse, or security issues
Business Transactions
If Forever Lores LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
8. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Active Accounts
While an account remains active, we retain:
- Account information
- Journal content
- Messages
- Photos
- Voice recordings
- Analytics information
- Participation history
Account Deletion
When a user deletes an account:
- The account is deactivated and removed from active use.
- Personal account information is no longer accessible through the Service.
- Journal contributions remain available to journal participants.
- The user may appear as a "Former Member" in journal history.
Deleted accounts are initially retained in an archived state for security, operational, backup, legal, and compliance purposes.
Archived account information is generally retained for approximately three (3) years before permanent deletion, unless a longer retention period is required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, or operational purposes.
Journal Retention
Journals are collaborative records shared among participants.
A journal is not automatically deleted when a participant leaves.
If all participants leave a journal and the journal remains inactive, Forever Lores may permanently delete the journal and associated content after approximately one (1) year of inactivity.
Retention periods may be extended when reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, or operational purposes.
9. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Users should avoid sharing information that they would not want retained as part of a journal's long-term history.
10. Push Notifications
Elephanta may send notifications related to:
- Journal activity
- Messages
- Story updates
- Family activity
- Other Service-related events
Users can manage notification preferences through their device settings and any in-app notification controls that may be available.
11. Your Rights and Choices
Users may:
- Access their account information
- Update account information
- Delete their account
- Contact us regarding privacy concerns
Where available, users may be able to download or export copies of certain journal content through export features provided within the Service.
12. California Privacy Rights
Residents of California may have additional rights under applicable California privacy laws.
Subject to verification and applicable legal exceptions, California residents may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and use
- Request access to personal information we maintain about them
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of personal information, subject to legal and operational exceptions
- Receive information regarding categories of personal information collected and disclosed
- Not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights
Elephanta does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

13. Do Not Track
At this time, Elephanta does not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
14. International Users
Elephanta is currently intended for users located in the United States.
If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When material changes are made, we may provide notice through the Service or by other reasonable means.
The updated Privacy Policy will become effective when posted.
Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
