Account Deletion Policy

Effective Date: [Launch Date] Last Updated: July 30, 2026

At Elephanta, we understand that users may choose to leave the platform or stop using their account. This Account Deletion Policy explains what happens when you delete your account and how journal content is handled afterward.

This policy applies to all users of Elephanta, a service operated by Forever Lores LLC.

1. Deleting Your Account

You may request deletion of your Elephanta account at any time through the app or by contacting us at:

hello@foreverlores.com

Once your deletion request is processed, your account will be placed into an archived state and removed from active use.

2. What Happens When Your Account Is Deleted

When your account is deleted:

  • Your profile is removed from active use within the app.
  • Your phone number and account credentials are no longer used to authenticate into Elephanta.
  • You will lose access to your account and any journals associated with it.
  • Other journal participants may continue to see content you previously contributed.

Because Elephanta journals are collaborative and shared among participants, your past messages, stories, photos, and voice recordings generally remain part of the journal history.

Instead of displaying your name, your contributions may be identified as being from a Former Member.

3. What Happens to Shared Journals

Elephanta journals belong collectively to the participants who contributed to them.

If you leave or delete your account:

  • Shared journals are not deleted automatically.
  • Remaining participants retain access to the journal and its history.
  • Content you previously shared may remain visible within the journal.

This approach preserves the continuity of shared memories and conversations for other participants.

4. Journal Retention

A journal may remain active as long as at least one participant continues to use it.

If all participants leave a journal:

  • The journal may be placed into an archived state.
  • Archived journals may be retained for approximately one (1) year.
  • After that period, the journal and its contents may be permanently removed from our systems.

We may retain backup copies for a limited period for security, disaster recovery, fraud prevention, or legal compliance purposes.

5. Data Retention After Account Deletion

Deleted accounts are initially retained in an archived state rather than being immediately erased.

Archived account records may be retained for approximately three (3) years before permanent deletion.

This retention period helps us:

  • Maintain the integrity of shared journals.
  • Prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Resolve disputes or support requests.
  • Meet legal, regulatory, or operational obligations.

After the retention period expires, archived account records are scheduled for permanent deletion unless a longer retention period is required by law.

6. Photos and Voice Recordings

Photos and voice recordings you contributed to a journal may remain available to other journal participants after your account has been deleted.

These files are treated as part of the journal's shared history and follow the same retention rules as other journal content.

If a journal is ultimately deleted or purged, associated photos and voice recordings are also removed as part of that process.

7. Exporting Your Memories

Elephanta may provide tools that allow users to export journal content, such as PDF memory books or similar formats.

If you wish to export memories from a journal, we recommend doing so before deleting your account, as account deletion may remove your ability to access the journal.

8. Legal and Security Retention

Certain information may be retained beyond the standard retention periods if necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable laws.
  • Respond to lawful requests from authorities.
  • Resolve disputes.
  • Enforce our agreements.
  • Protect the security and integrity of the Service.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Account Deletion Policy from time to time.

If material changes are made, we may provide notice through the Service or by other reasonable means.

The most current version will always be available on our website.
